How Fashletics Made it to The CrossFit Games

I am excited to announce that Fashletics is an official sponsor of the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games.  We will be at the South East Regional (April 27-29), the Central East Regional (May 11-13), the Northeast Regional (May 25-27), and of course, the main event at the Home Depot Center in sunny SoCal (July 13-15).

To be a sponsor at the CrossFit Games has been a dream of mine since I started Fashletics in 2010.  At that time, I was working out of my home studio in Miami and the Fashletics collection consisted of 4 handmade designs.  It was a part time business with mostly friends and local CrossFitters as customers.

Fashletics had its public “debut” at the 2010 CrossFit Sectional Event in West Palm Beach (before sectionals went online and became "The Open").  This event presented the perfect opportunity to test the waters with my new brand.  I set up a folding table (covered in a white Target table cloth I might add) and officially presented my small collection (big idea) to the CrossFit community for the first time.

Since early 2010 a lot as changed.  I have moved Fashletics out of my home studio and into a 1,600 square foot warehouse space.  The jewelry collection has grown from 4 pieces to over 60 and I have had the wonderful opportunity to design for companies such as Life as Prescribed, Unscared/CrossFit Endurance, Barbells For Boobs/Mammograms in Action, SICFIT, Firebreather Athletics, and dozens of CrossFit Affiliates from across the country.  The apparel and accessories collection now includes over 30 items inspired by the Fashletics slogan: LIVE LOVE LIFT ™.

I designed the jewelry, the logo, the website, I took the product photos, I set up booths at every local event that would have me, I blogged, I emailed, I hung banners, and I even learned the power of the “tweet”.  Design, create, market, sell, repeat repeat repeat.  It started as a one-woman show and yet, I could never say that I did this alone.
I was a transplanted transplant - a midwestern girl who chased the sunshine all the way to California and then to Miami.  I was trying to find my groove in South Florida but knew no one and was struggling to make ends meet as an independent jewelry designer.  I joined a Triathlon club, met some of the most important people in my life (including my current coach) and became very competitive in the endurance sport world, which ultimately led me to CrossFit.

Art actually does imitate life.  I rediscovered my passion for athletics which started to influence my designs.  I think for many artists, at least for me, the creative process is an expression of love, passion, and dedication.  It’s like when you are so excited about something and you just can’t wait to tell the whole world… only instead of using words, you use your artistic medium.  And mine happens to be metal.

My new designs were a tribute to my new life as an athlete, a coach, and a competitor.  They were an expression of gratitude for the fact that I finally found my place in South Florida after feeling like a lost transplant for so long.  Thanks to this inspiration I was also able to breathe new life into my career as a designer.

I may have started Fashletics on my own, but it has grown because of an incredible amount of support.  To put it honestly and simply; Fashletics would not be a thriving business without the existence of CrossFit.  And on a personal note, I would not be the athlete that I am without the existence of CrossFit.

And aside from a phenomenal training program, what is CrossFit and why do I give it so much credit?  CrossFit is a community.  It is a community that wants to see people grow, succeed, and thrive.  It is a community that supports the underdog as much as the champion.  It is a community that will pick you when you are down, one that will tell you you can when are convinced that you can’t, one that will celebrate with you when you win and one that will be there for you when don’t.  This is the community that has brought my health, fitness, and business to the next level.
All for You
It is essential to my existence that what I am doing makes a difference in the lives of others. (Not to be overly dramatic or anything.)  Fashletics is more than a catchy tagline and a collection of cute charms.  Counting the number of website hits and calculating sales revenue is not enough to keep a company going and it is definitely not enough to keep me inspired and dedicated.

Yes, I love what I do… but I love the people that I do it for even more.
A dedication to health and fitness brings confidence, strength, balance, and happiness to my life.  I believe it is essential to survival both physically and mentally.  One of my goals with Fashletics is to spread this message.  The Fashletics collection is meant to inspire you to commit, to work, to compete, to achieve, and to take pride in your sweat and muscles.

Another goal is to celebrate the individuals who are finding success and happiness in their life as a result of their dedication to health and fitness.  A Fashletics charm is your badge of honor.  It is my way of celebrating your success and encouraging you to keep going!  With every order that is sent out, I feel like I get to be someone’s personal cheerleader.

Fashletics is built on a community of people whose stories and experiences inspire positive change.  Fashlete of the Month and the Heraean Games are two of my proudest Fashletics achievements because they pay tribute to the individuals who bring life and meaning to my business.  Fashletics may have been created based on my own experiences, but it continues on because of YOU.

As I prepare for the “CrossFit Games Season” I feel excited, a little nervous, and very proud.  But mostly I feel grateful.  A lot has changed at a rapid pace (in true CrossFit form) but one thing that I can promise is that at the core of Fashletics you have a woman who is committed to exploring and expressing the true meaning of strength from the inside out... and that will never change.  I am honored to serve a community that has proven to me over and over again that it wants to be a part of my quest to inspire positive change through physical means.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a part of my little world, for fueling the growth of Fashletics, and for sharing our passion and our message: LIVE LOVE LIFT.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on our journey to The CrossFit Games!
